Modern or medieval?

Castles contain moguls instead of maidens
Skyscrapers hurl imprecations at passersby
Eagles and giraffes are adorned with dollar signs
Dichotomy beds down with irony on park benches
Prisons are empty shells on islands midsea
The fruit of our labors lies silent and cold inside of mountains
If sounds are colors, the wash is muddied with screams
A tinntinabulation echoes endlessly in seashell ears
Hear the distant roars of waves instead of living graves
I will save you from this madness
